1. Why should I get an infrared scan? ..... We’ve found that insulation gets left out of virtually all homes, even new ones. And all buildings develop air gaps, the second leading cause of structural greenhouse gas emissions. Until you address insulation deficiencies and air gaps, you can't get a good return on investment in other energy upgrades.

2. What does an infrared scan involve? ..... Before scanning your property, the thermographer will ask you some questions, and review the property and related conditions. Then she or he will conduct a methodical walk-through capturing data with a thermal imager. You will see your building in infrared on the imager's 5-inch display.

3. How do I prepare for an infrared inspection? ..... Please pull curtains and drapes away from the walls, as well as any furniture that obstructs an area you would like us to scan.

4. Does it matter what time of day you inspect my home? Usually it’s best to inspect in the very early morning or an hour or more after sunset.

5. How much does an infrared inspection cost? ..... If the area to be inspected is 3,000 square feet or less, the inspection fee is $400. For up to 3,500 square feet the fee is $450, and it increases accordingly.

6. What kind of report will I receive? ..... On the day of the inspection, we can burn an image-only CD at your request. A full report, also on CD, is usually available within 48 hours. The report includes the images from your property scan and information about the thermal anomalies. Your Visual Cue Thermal Imaging report is the key to planning your project with energy efficiency in mind. Share it with your designer, architect, and contractor or handyman before the work is planned and you'll further conserve resources.

7. Does Visual Cue sell or install insulation? ..... No. Please see Related Links for some of our favorite seasoned building professionals. Visual Cue does not share client information, nor do we sell or install equipment or insulation. Our income is based on the square footage we scan. For additional information, just give us a call or drop us a line.
